A Visit from Technorati...

... courtesy of blogged.com. This morning I thought that I would have to revise my hypothesis regarding Technorati making it almost impossible for new blogs to get any exposure. This blog received a single visit from Technorati. However, looking at the URL showed that blogged.com had a lot to do with this visit. The referring URL was:

http://www.technorati.com/blogs/blogged.com?reactions&page=4

Yes, blogged.com, with it's Technorati authorit of 6296 and rank of 34, had enabled a Technorati user to see my previous blog post. Without having submitted this blog to blogged.com this would not have happened, so my original hypothesis has not been refuted, yet.

Effectively, blogged.com could be the back-door via which this blog becomes visible on Technorati. I still view this as a hole in Technorati's otherwise well-designed system. Lacking a method for new bloggers to showcase their blogs is likely to make Technorati a less dynamic place. A simple "new blogs" page would be similar to comedy or music clubs having an open mic night; many a talented artist has been discovered via these open mic events. So it could be on Technorati too, if a method of featuring newcomers were implemented.
